Good but not perfect

OK, they wanted me to write a review so here it is.
The package arrived in good condition. Overall, the bike looks good, the frame seems to be well-made and the paint is cool. However, there were a few issues. First, it was impossible to untangle the brake lines and shifter cable in order to attach the handlebar to the stem. I tried removing the brake levers but couldn't do it because the rubber grips are glued to the bar and can't be removed without destroying them. So then I decided to remove the brake calipers from the fork and rear stay, untangle the brake lines and reattach the calipers. That's when I found the front caliper screws were loose! I'm glad I caught this before riding the bike. I untangled the lines and reattached the calipers, put some threadlock on the screws and tightened them properly.
Second, when trying to place the front wheel hub into the fork, I saw the fork is at least 10mm wider than the hub. Of course, the fork can be forced tight on the hub by tightening the quick-release skewer, but why was the fork made wider than the hub? Then, the rear brake pads were rubbing on the rotor so the caliper position had to be readjusted. After assembly, the front brake lever has a longer travel than the rear one and there's no way to adjust that quickly as with a mechanical brake (I'm not so familiar with hydraulic brakes so I'll have look into that). Third, when adjusting the shifter, the rear cable conduit came out of the rear stay holder without me noticing it (due to being very loose), obviously messing up the adjustment. I finally noticed and corrected that, after which I was able to do the adjustment properly. Other issues: the wheels were not true, had a lot of axial wobble. I tried to correct them by tightening/loosening the spokes but I wasn't able to do it perfectly (and I have some experience with that). The seat is very uncomfortable but this is the case with most new bikes. The plastic chain guard is very loose and cannot be properly centered relative to the hub axis (it moves very easily out of position). There's barely enough clearance between the rear frame stays and the rear tire so don't plan on switching to wider tires. No pedals so you have to order your own (is it such a big deal to provide at least some cheap pedals for this price?). Some of the accessory screws on the frame and fork were loose but that's a minor issue.
Last thing, based on the geometry numbers and some calculations, I ordered a lower frame size (L/54cm) than Breezer indicates for my height (XL/57cm). I'm happy with the decision, the XL would have been too large.
I haven't ridden the bike yet so I'm looking forward to it. The riding position is more forward-leaning than I would have liked but that was expected. I was thinking about replacing the handlebar with a taller one but the rear brake line is too short to allow that). I like the simplicity of having a large gear range with a single crank wheel (no front derailleur and shifter).
My advice to Breezer, in a world full of bike brands competing with each other, you can't have quality lapses. You either do a great job or none at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the review! We appreciate your feedback and are certainly working on dialing in some of the QC issues you experienced. That being said, any new bike will need some time to properly assemble and tune to perfection. If you feel any of the issues you experienced are due to manufacturing defect, we encourage you to submit a warranty request or email customerservice@breezerbikes.com.
